Talesh
From Anzaly, a major Caspian seaport, to the city of Astara, this scenic region is a land of sharp contrast, ranging from high forested mountains to subtropical coastal land along the southwest shores of the Caspian Sea. A route passes through villages nestling at the foot of the Talesh mountains, their rice farms and citrus orchards scattered in the landscape between the mountains and the sea and connects Iran to the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Astara
A border city with the Republic of Azerbaijan, where the Aras river reaches the Caspian Sea. It is one of the country's free trade zones and a major trade center in the north. It is also Iran's land link to Russia and the other states which emerged after the Soviet Union breakup - thus, connecting Iranian roads to Europe.

Heyran
This exceptionally picturesque route winds its way up along the Aras river to the top of the mountains, passing through steep gorges of the border region with the Azerbaijan Republic. It is part of the Astara-Ardebil route connecting Sabalan and the plains of Ardebil to Qazvin and Tehran.

Sarein (Sare-in)
At the foot of the Sabalan mountains lies a unique natural spa region with numerous hotsprings of various temperatures renown for their therapeutic values. Not very far from Sarein in a village called Sardava, with a naturally carbonated cold water spring, also known for its therapeutic values complements the numerous hot springs of Sarein and adds to the natural attraction of the Sabalan region.
