Baku Bay

Facing the Caspian Sea, Baku is built on the slopes of hills surrounding the bay, creating a natural amphitheatre around the city.
Along the shore, an attractive park called Boulevard has been built extending to the seaport and industrial zone in the north of the city. This shady waterfront promenade built along the harbor contains gardens, a children's amusement park, restaurants with view, canals, a long jetty and a chess pavilion.

Boasting to be the finest natural harbor on the Caspian Sea, Baku is the only deep seaport of Azerbaijan. It provides shipping services to the seaports of Bandar-e Anazali and Bandar-e Nowshar in Iran, and together with Turkmanbashi port in Turkmanestan, constitute a key strategic position on the transport route across the Caspian Sea, linking Europe and the Caucasus region with the Central Asian countries.
